Where as some of us have not even seen a shooter buck this year, others are passing up on 125s waiting for a bigger one. emoRolleyes If you have not figured it out yet MR. Churly could be the poster child for how to manage a deer heard. He has on here talked to us about how to manage your property, put out food plots, shoot doe to decrease the heard but increase the competition between the bucks and how he does this each and every year. emoWorthy Of coarse you have to have the property and the resources to do this which he has. However it does amaze me how he follows this himself with his property he manages with great success. Talked to him this weekend through texts while I was hunting, not seeing a thing and he is telling me he was passing on good bucks that were just not big enough. emoDoh

Not too much later he texts me he just dropped a brute of an eight pointer! emoWorthy I have known Churly long enough to know when he shoots one it is a good one. He later sent me these pictures. emoToast

If I ever become a good deer hunter I want to grow up to be like him when it comes to deer hunting. Really nice buck there Mr. Churly! emoBigsmile Jmax

You are only as good as your property, work ethic, and self control. Year after year Churly has shown that he has that combination figured out . Congrats.

Thanks Jim. These past two weekends, I have seen the most intense rutting action I have ever witnessed. I actually passed this buck several times last weekend. He has been fighting or dogging does every time I saw him. Videoed him earlier in the morning, and decided he was going down if he came back through. First buck I have shot with a rifle since '12

Congrats Churly!! That is a good looking mature deer. This is the result of having the discipline to pass up a deer to see what it can become in the future. WTG!!!

They are all great deer. That first one is a brute. Heavy muscled and that neck all swolled' up! Very nice deer. Churly, how much land do you manage? Just curious.

Way too much! Ive got access to 4 farms in 4 counties in KY, total under 1800 acres

I lease about 380 acres in Putnam Co. TN that surrounded by hundreds of acres of family and good neighbors that allow us to hunt. Running cameras and planting plots is really fun too me, pulling the trigger is just an added perk.
