Just read on ESPN that Houston Nutt just agreed to coach Ole Miss.. should make for an interesting next couple of years....

that is not good for ALabama. Nutt is a great recruiter and will keep those home town boys in Miss. The last 3 years AL has gotten the mississippi mr football.

Arkansas did about the dumbest thing running him off. He is not a great coach but he took Ark about as far as they could go last year.
Reminds me of what Ole miss did to Cutcliff. That was a great move wasn't it? Fire a guy that makes them an actual competitor in the SEC, and hire in strenght and conditioning coach from USC. How many games did O win total? less than Cut did in one year.

Go Rebs! Beat everyone but TN!

FHS, I see it the opposite that you do... I think he's one of the poorer recruiters in the SEC, but is one of the top Xs and Os coaches. For instance, McFadden was just hell bent on staying in state near family, and then you can see what happened with the whole Mustain drug deal. His recruiting isn't top notch... Felix Jones just went there because UT refused to give him a scholarship, opting for Coker instead

Anyways, I COMPLETELY agree with you that this was a terrible move by old Man Broyles, and the Arkansas admin... well, until they get Butch Davis at least.

No matter why McFadden, Jones, Monk went there he got them there. he has recruited some great OL and DL players which rarely get talked about when recruits are mentioned. I think he also does a great job at coaching "up" his players. I bet he could even make a decent QB of Brent Schaffer!

You give him a good Def. Coor at Miss and he will beat a bunch of folks.

Nutt is a heck of a coach, he is just stubborn at times. I bet he is laughing all the way to the bank. He got out at the right time, and he did it for the program. He has razorback blood in him, and that will never change. What people dont realize is that springdale ar, which is where mitch mustain and gus malzahn came from with all the contraversy this past year, is only 10 miles down the road from fayetteville! Nutt crapped in his own kitchen and he had to eat their for the last year. His dream job pretty much blew up in his face.

Right ... b/c everyone knows they stand a better chance of playing for an SEC title (dare I say, National title) at Ole Miss than at Alabama. That was a good one fishhead ;) Nutt was a "good" recruiter b/c what did he have to recruit against? Arkansas-Pine Bluff? Arkansas State? He's so good he had to hire a HS coach to get the recruit he wanted. Bama should be the least of his worries ... right now Sly Croom is winning hearts and minds in that state.

One thing's for sure ... he won't have to compete against Southern Miss since they screwed the pooch and ran off a very good coach in Jeff Bowers.

For the life of me I can't understand USM pushing Jeff Bowers out... I mean what do they expect, they are Southern Miss?

Dumbest thing ole' Miss did was bring in a "foaming-at-the-mouth", cussing, screaming yankee that the "Fine athlete, good-ole-boys' could not even relate to. I think Nutt will do a great job there. I'm betting Archie had a lot to do with the hire.

seems like i remember that Hs coach leading the conference in scoring for 2/3 of the season last year and oh yeah did they win the west??? i think they did and without a QB at all!!! i am not saying he is going to kill Alabama but since Al has been left empty by the recruiting restrictions in the last few years. they are in need of top athletes and if Nutt keeps the top players from miss, it is going to hurt Bama because they have been drawing the best from Mississippi due to the lack of a football program worht a crap for several years now. With Croom getting lucky this year, that will make it harder also to recruit kids to leave the state.

I would say Croom will not last another 2 years there. he finally had a winning season and if his team backpedals any they will can him.

My fiance's father is a big booster at MSU. They loooove Croom. They love what he is bringing to the program, and they love his interaction with the Boosters, fans, and students... He's kicking Ole Miss' and Alabama's arse... Croom is going nowhere, anytime soon.

well that is true about beating ole miss and bama but i work for a MSU grad and booster and he told me earlier in the year that if another 3 win season would have him unemployed. i am not sure if he was just blowing smoke but ther was a lot of talk about him being gone.

College coaching is "what have you done for me lately", we all know that. Ask jim donnan, mike shula, even steve spurrier was being pushed out at Fl when he resigned.

As someone who follows college football WAY TOO CLOSE, i think if MSU only wins 4 games next year, he will most likely be fired. there was a lot of talk this year about him being fired, I think his team bought him some time by overacheiving.

FHS, I hear ya man, there is probably a ton of different opinions... Of course I haven't known my fiance's father too long to know the pain he went through in previous years. They all hate Stansbury I know...

I'm with you man, I follow it way to closely, and am too interested in other teams. I agree their luck has all been cashed in this year.
