Have a quick question,me and my son were coming in the other night and last stop was the coast guard slough,I have fished this slough for 40 years and went into it and one of the guard came running down on there boat and told us we have to stay out of it and have to move back out to the green buoy at the mouth,we were fishing the right bank going in,is this a new rule with them or what, there was a new sign on there boat that said stay 300ft away from the boat but never have heard you can't fish in there!!!

Noticed the sign the other day prefishing over there. I am like you, been fishing it for years. Guess they are concerned about act of terrorism.

Homeland security. Got screamed at a couple weeks ago in there. I'm sure they have their reasons...

It has been like that for a while me and my son were fishing it one morning early last year and they told us we had to leave

I think all the potential "targets" on the lake are ramping up security. Was out with my brother last week around Sequoyah fishing all the rip rap and had a security vehicle that seemed to be keeping an eye on us. If they don't want people fishing around the coast guard station any more they should anchor a sign in the mouth of the slough.

One of the above comments stated the USCG had said IF the boat is in the slough, You can not fish there . That would violate the 300 Foot sign on the boat. Catch the Boat gone and try to fish there. Banning fishing in the slough is not their concern. Therefore a Keep Out sign would be inappropriate.

I didn't realize so many people fished in there lol. Yes I was told about the monster red and yellow sign as well. However, they were polite while asking me to stay out so I shrugged it off and fished elsewhere.

They really are nice guys. Just doing their job, and following orders, My son, a Chatta Fireman, their Station had to go in there the other day, non emergency, and he said they were exceptionally nice. With todays world.....who can blame them for being on the cautious side?

Dude came out to the dock and asked us if we couldn't read the sign during the last CFF; I looked everywhere and could not find a sign that said "no fishing". We just sasid yes sir, left and started singing the song" sign, sign, everywhere a sign. Breaking up the scenery breaking my mind, do this, don't do that, cant you read the sign" out loud as we trolled out of there. Can't remember the band that played that in the 80's

Got me twice last yr trying to go in there. First time guy stepped out with his AR. But I fished it from the bank quite a bit and seen a couple guys in a pontoon boat back in there fishing one day and the same guy stepped out and told them they had to leave before dark. So I tried going back a couple days later and got ran off again. Guess terrorist only fish from bass boats. Lol

Well since you can't fish there I don't guess it would be trying to sneak into somebody's fishing spot if I asked, WHERE THE HECK IS COAST GUARD SLOUGH? lol
