I started waterfowl hunting back in 2000, but got my first ever leg band from a resident Canadian goose Saturday morning. I was excited to get the details from its history when I called today, only to find out it takes 3-5 days to get the info.

Congratulations!! Glad to hear you had a good hunt. I hope dove went well too.

Thanks for calling into Tony Sanders Outdoors last week. It was great to speak with you. You need to call us again this week and give us the story about getting the band.

Thanks,

-Rob

Spur, you can report bird bands online to get instant results back.

Unfortunately they don't mail you a nice copy of the certificate anymore. You have to print it off yourself!

Ditto, instant results. It'll probably tell you it was banded at Chickamauga. I've gotten 8 or 9 early season goose bands and I believe all of them were banded local. Share the results when you get them.

OK, went ahead and did it online and got this info back.

Date 06/23/2010
Species CANADA GOOSE
Age HATCHED IN 2009 OR EARLIER
Sex FEMALE
Location NR SODDY DAISY, HAMILTON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, USA

Yep. We shot three with bands this weekend. The first two came back with no info loaded yet. The third one said it was banded at Chester Frost 2 years ago.

Talking to the warden on Saturday, he said lately it rare to see a bird with out a band, since most are resident and have been caught at least once.

Congrats on it. This weekend was my first time waterfowl hunting and I am seriously addicted. It's going to take a lot to get me back to the deer stand, other than for some meat in the freezer.
