Collegiate Bass Fishing??!!

It seems that Bass fishing has hit the college ranks. OK Brent Hayes you gotta UTC involved.

Collegiate bass fishing was great! I was the president of the Indiana University Bass Fishing Team. We travelled all over the place to fish tournaments and Big Ten Fishing Championships. We also had an annual tournament against Purdue (huge rival) called the Old Minnow Bucket (basketball's is the Old Oaken Bucket) in which the bucket changes hands depending on which team wins. It made college that much better... We'd have the Indiana Bass Federation donate boat drivers and have tournaments. Congrats to the Crimson Tide! It won't be long before we have March Madness with a 64 team fishing field!

I would love to see UTC get a team started up since I will be attending there the next 4 years. I will have to do some research and see what all is required to start a team up. emoThumbsup

I dont see why it would be a problem, we do everything else in college. I wonder if the state grants and stuff would cover fishing?

I wonder if Coach would let Brent out of some workouts & part of summer camp to fish for UTC???!!! Yeah, right!! I know if he could get a full ride on the fishing team, football may take a back seat!

Yeah, I wish UTC or Chatt. State had a college fishing program of some sort when I started 4 yrs. ago. It would have been nice. I also wish I had majored in fisheries and wildlife mgmt. as well. Oh well, can't have everything. I could go a couple more yrs. and get a fisheries and wildlife mgmt. degree, I am just sick of school and ready to start makin' money. Anyhow, I guess I will just have to pursue the BFL series.

Thanks for all the replys. We have a lot of young fisherman here on the forum and I know if they had the chance they would do good in tournaments. I think many of us wish we had a chance to do something like that when we were in college. Who knows we may have a local school get a club team in the near future.
