A while back I posted a question regarding the "tacky-ness" of building a rod with your school's colors. I was a little hesitant but decided to keep it subtle and go ahead with it, after all it couldn't be that tacky anyway since it wasn't a Bama rod. emoPoke

Here's the specs on my AUBURN rod.

The blank is a 7 foot Batson SWB70MH 30lb. The guides are Chrome black SS. Graphite Fugi reel seat and a gimbal butt.

Orange underwraps, with white accents and Navy overwraps. The butt wrap is an orange and navy tiger which came out darker than I had hoped. It's a little weird because I used color preserver and the exact same spools of thread as the guide wraps, however the tiger came out much darker.

The reel is one of a kind, litterally. It's an Avet MXL 5.3 Magic Cast anodized orange. I custom orderd it from Avet this way and its the only orange MC of its kind.

Looks great man,
I've got one of those's blanks here, they have tons of power, should be able to handle anything you hook up with,,,
REALLY nice reel to,,

Very nice looking rod....wrong team and all, but still a nice rod. If it were Crimson and white, well then I guess it would catch fish and be a great looking rod. emoPoke

Nice looking rod - BUT..... your guides are on crooked, lol emoPoke

Do the off set guides really help when fighting the fish, heard it is supposed to make maximum use of the rods power.

For me, it's more for the comfort. When fighting fish conventional rods want to "roll over". With the line on the bottom there isn't the natural torque on the rod, it wan's to remain upright. On rods without a gimble butt, when put in a rod holder, the spiral wrapped rods stay upright where as a conventional setup twists around.
