Comcast keeps getting more expensive and now they have put a 300 gig per month cap on internet service.
I'm considering switching to att and direct tv.At less than half of what i'm paying now ,it's got my attention.
Anyone use their services, and how do you like it.Any input is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

They all double after their introductory rates and lock you in for two years. I guess you've taken that in consideration.

Before you switch make sure you understand data speeds and pricing. AT&T fastest data is 6 mB. That is usually more than enough for most people but if you are an online gamer you may experience high ping times. Beat advice I can give is know what you want and ask if the prices are introductory.

You probably don't want AT&T Uverse. I have had it for a while and the first chance I get to replace them with some thing worth while the tv part is gone. That is the most lying company I have ever dealt with in 68 years. They are constantly raising your rates. You can get them on the phone and they will get your monthly rate back within 5 or 10 dollars and tell you that is the best they can do. They will tell you this rate is good for a year. The person you are talking to will guarantee they got it fixed but within a month or two they will jack your rates up again. It is a never ending game. My rates have gone from around $145 to about $ 225 or more. Most of it is the tv rate. I may in up going to antenna tv.

Also I forgot to mention that AT&T will tell you it's fiber optic cable and it may be to the junction box but what they don't tell you is from there it is what ever was ran to your house years ago. My high speed jumps all over the place. I even hard wired my tv but that didn't help that much. THERE IS FEW PLACES AROUND THAT CARES LESS ABOUT IT'S CUSTOMERS THEN AT&T.

Thanks guys,
I'm keeping Comcast internet service and going to broadcast TV.

You can negotiate your price with Comcast. If it comes to it cancel your service then the next day call back for new service under a promotion price (which they always have). Trust me it works.

I'm strongly considering changing from Comcast to EPB. But there are more information that I need to know before I can change internet service.

I tried Comcast a while back and thank the good lord I no longer have them. I have had just about all the different carriers out there and Comcast has the worst customer service out there. The price for Comcast is way more if you break it down to what you are really getting for your money. maybe that can help ya just my two cents.

I personally haven't had any problems with Comcast or their customer service. But they are getting pricey. I know people that have EPB and say it's well worth switching to. But I've got to look at a new TV first. I guess that's going to be a new thread.

Just read carefully COMCAST policy on your internet and the new modem. Basically you are paying them to turn your home into a free wifi hot spot unless you proactively turn it off. There is some discussion about whether it really gets turned off and whether you have safe access. Google it

Hey cast4bass, I jist received a a letter from comcast telling me that my modem needs to swapped out for a new model.I'm looking into buying my own modem so I don't have to pay the modem rental fee.

We had Comcast in our apartment and it worked great. The internet was fast, the cable never cut out and the bill never changed. We then bought a house and everything went south after the move. The cable and internet worked great, it was the billing that gave us fits. First bill was for an incorrect amount. Since I had auto-draft set up I called and they put a credit on my account. The next bill was incorrect again. So I called again. This time I had them credit my account and remove auto-draft. Not only did they charge my account the next month (after auto-draft was removed) but it was for an incorrect amount again!!! So I switched to EPB. customer service was great. However, they were more expensive and their equipment/offering was limited. We hardly watch "live" TV. We record an incredible amount and watch OnDemand. EPB's OnDemand catalog is limited compared to Comcast. EPB's HDDVR box will only record two shows at once where Comcast's X1 box will record up to 4 and you can watch a 5th. EPB is still new to this business segment so I understand the limited capabilities. I would guess this will be addressed in the future.

So my suggestion would be, if you DVR more than a couple of shows and you love to watch OnDemand, go with Comcast. Just know that customer service is going to be awful and be prepared for it. Also, do not use auto-draft. I would highly suggest purchasing your own modem, it will pay for itself in the long run.

They are charging me $10 a month to rent their modem. I can get 1 from Best Buy for about $60 that will do anything I need it to do. I went and talked to EPB today. I think I'm about to make the switch. I just need to figure out which bundle to go with. I don't DVR so I don't have to be concerned about how many shows I can record @ the same time.
