I'm not sure if many remember this. Just bringing it up because of the interest in CC guns lately here on the forum.

A Tennessee CC permit holder can carry his/her gun concealed...... BUT!! they can also legally carry a loaded shotgun in their vehicle too.

Public Chapter 431 – Loaded Rifles and Shotguns in Vehicles – This act allows a person with a handgun carry permit to possess a loaded rifle or loaded shotgun in a privately owned vehicle. The act provides that the weapon cannot have ammunition in the chamber except in the case that an individual permit holder feels physically threatened.

I'm sorry but that law is stupid. I don't consider a gun loaded unless it has one in the chamber. I mean you can have a pistol loaded but not a long gun. What's the difference? Also TN does not have a concealed carry permit. Its just a carry permit since you can carry open or concealed in the state of TN.

When we are out spotlighting deer it sure is faster to get a shot off. and Heck.. If you get caught, that is one less charge you will get having a gun full of Buckshot. If I have a fired shell in the chamber, does that count as not loaded in the chamber?</p>

Guess that fired shell wouldn't count since when you pull the trigger it's not going to go boom. My point is if it ever comes down to having to use force it's going to be a split second decision. I'm going to use my split second defending myself while your still trying to loading your gun.
