I was trying to post in the classifieds section, however it said that I had to be a contributing member or forum supporter. What is the definition of a contributing member?

Here is what I understand to be the on going rule of thumb. You have to post in the fishing report section or general fishing section in order to use the free classifieds now. Here is what I found and copied to answer your questions. Quote;

Thanks so much for your posts on the CFF classified. I would ask however that you follow the guidelines that have been in place for many years.

CFF asks that you contribute to the overall forum if your going to utilize the free classified section. Namely in either in the Fishing Reports, or General Fishing sections.
We don't think this is too much to ask to access such a huge number of outdoorsmen that our classified section reaches.

You can view these guidelines at the top of each classified section, or feel free to contact any moderator of admin for further information.

Thanks,

Thanks jmax. Well I fit the definition. I will message them and see what the hangup is.

I am going to guess it has something to do with the count of how many posts in the fishing and general sections a person has before the classifies are allowed. I went back and looked over the last six months and it appears you made one fishing report and started one general discussion in that time. If you PM spur he can more then likely give you the stats. I remember this discussion when it came up and the whole take on it was there was a concern that the CFF would/could become just another classified type forum like Craig's List and Ebay if the classifies got out of hand. With this thought the current process was put in place but I do not know what the determining factors are. These were done to try to not loose our identity as a fishing forum. emoGeezer Jmax

I'm guessing you are probably correct on the post count. I understand the idea behind the restrictions so I messaged him to find out for sure. Thanks for your help jmax.

The classifieds access point is set at 50 posts (or be a sponsor). Took the admin. a while to find it. Now I know too. It should probably be put in the classified header/sticky.

So 50 emoWelcome posts would make someone a contributing member? This site has a rulebook thicker than the yellow pages! emoPolice
