Well it was windy as could be, but my kids wanted to go fishing so i couldnt say no. We decided to just go to my buddies pond not far from my house. Got there about 4 this afternoon and the water was freezing. My 9 year old daughter was throwing a 6" zoom finesse worm and i was throwing several new hard baits i had got for Christmas. I caught a couple of small bass around a pound each, which is about normal size for the pond and let my son & youngest daughter reel them in. We fished for about an hour and my oldest daughter hadnt caught anything, but the wind had gotten really bad so i told her that we needed to go. She asked could she make a few more casts, so i told her yeah. I started loading everything back into the Jeep and shes start screaming. I thought something was wrong until i turned around & saw her rod bent way over. I took off running to help her get the fish in. She fought it all the way in and i grabbed it when she got it to the bank. Weighed it at 4.14lbs on my digital scale. Thats her biggest to date. Now shes bragging about it to everyone and wont let me live it down that shes caught the biggest bass in our family so far this year. Lol. Makes me proud and shes fired up ready to do some more fishing now!!

Thanks. Shes excited about it. Last summer she told me she wanted a "good" fishing rod and to use artificial bait. So a trip to Academy and $150 later she had a new rod, reel, and tackle box fully stocked. But shes really suprised me how quick shes picked up fishing with soft baits. Getting pretty good at catching fish on them.

Yes it is. Id much rather see her or my other 2 kids catch a big fish than catch it myself. I love catching big bass, but its a much better feeling seeing her do it and then seeing that huge smile on her face. Shes still giving me a hard time about catching the biggest one today. I guess she does take after me. Lol

Yup. You have to get kids outside and interested. They are the future of fishing and hunting. My kids go with me hunting or fishing all the time. And they have been doing it for as long as i would let them. And i did the same thing with my dad.

Well if she had a boat i might do some trading Todd. Lol. Heck we did a lot better last year than we did in 2013 & i hope we do better this year than we did last year.

Thanks. I love taking my kids hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling, or anywhere else i go. And now that they are getting older they are the ones who want to go more than me sometimes. Lol.

Great, take time to do things with kids, it makes a difference in there lives
