This is a report on two trips. First day ever on chick was 8/19. Tried everything i had in the boat. Finally we started cranking the grass edges with strike king 6xd. 2nd cast caught a lm that weighed 5.00 even on scales. went a while longer and paul caught one that weighed 3.1. we caught them around 10:30 and the hotter it got the slower the bite was. we boated one more throw back. called it a day after a long day from 7am to 6 pm. we fished mainly around the dayton area.
the second trip was about the same. i had one on early that was around 4 lbs. got off at boat. paul caught one keeper and i boated another throw back around 9:45. it was hot around 12 and we called it quits at 1. this was in the river area. near the dam. i am from south eastern ky and it is a long haul to the chick. we need some help on finding fish.
my home lake is laurel lake. i fish it twice a week every week. i will gladly take you or help you with tourney knowledge any time. i do well in all the local tourneys there. i need some help on this lake because we have a tourney there the second week of october and i don't think 8 or 9 pounds will do it. it is a daytime tourney two day event.
from what i understand the fish should pull up into the grass more as the water cools. i have focused on the grass with jigs and beavers but not one bite on plastic. fished a drop shot on the channel edges and no luck with it or a carolina rig. please help. i will be back there tuesday if any one wants to follow along or give me some advice. looking to make friends and do some fishing.

colby, it is probably going to take way more then 9 pounds. we fished a tourney last week on the Chick that took 30.51 pounds to win it. wow a 6 pound average. granted this is local guys that fish this lake every week. you guys picked an awesome lake to fish on your trail. mid October here can be a little tough if you do not know how to get upclose and personal in the hydrilla. frogs and flipping will be the winning ways in mid october. i would definitely try flipping, when the sun gets high those fish bury up. also avery good bait in the morning that time of year is a buzzbait on the edges.

thank you. i put in at the north end dam and ran all the way back to find grass. i thought the whole thing was grass until then. what jigs you guys throw. i threw a 3/8 green pumkin with zoom chunck and no good. what color on the buzz bait as well.
