Need a little advice...the place I hunt in N ga is covered up in coyote, I hear them almost every evening that I hunt, and see them in daylight every now and then. I would like to target them, but am not at all excited about spending several hundred dollars or more on an electronic call. Can a newbie be succesfull with a mouth call? rabbit? any advice? I have several shooting houses that overlook fields and wood edges, not to mention the lock-ons that are on the property...

Bait!!! Across a field in shooting range hang dead chickens by wire from tree limbs. About three feet above the ground for a couple and others about six feet. Secure the wire well so they can not drag the bait into cover. The High bait will make them return whereas if they clean up all the Bait the first night they may not return. At sundown until you can not see to shoot you should see some activity. Be very aware of the human scent you leave so the less you can handle the bait the better and keep you activities to just in and out.
Don't miss...

That sounds like fun! Are the coyote in Ga fairly good size on average? I have a .243 that would work well but those .204's are nice... enjoy watching Predator Nation.

My uncle shot one using a doe bleat last year at 400 yards he was aimin in between the ears and shot him in the chest with a 7 mm 08 so I went and bought 1

The Dying Rabbit call works around here. Bait: remember those Beanie Baby toys ? Put one on the trail as a decoy. Color doesn't matter. But, if the critter gets within 15 yds of the decoy, you had better shoot quick or the critter will grab the decoy and be gone.

Caliber can be anything from .22 LR on up. I prefer .22-250. My best kill was a head shot at 401 yds with the .22-250.
