Well I just wanted to post the pictures of the success I had fishing a little on the 25th and a little on the 26th.

9/25.
I went fishing in my back yard on the N Chickamauga creek, around mile 5 or so.
I didnt fish long, but I did manage to catch a decent rock bass with a floating shallow diver(I dont think it went much deeper than 5') that I found at a earlier date floating in the tail water off the Chick dam.

I really was surprised to catch him, as it hooked him right above the eye.

I took a picture then let him go. He will live to bite another day.

9/26.

I went fishing in the tailwater of the Chick dam, on the shore from around 8am-2 pm. I tried some spoons, but did not have any luck at hooking a fish. (probably due to my lack of good technique, and confidence)

I predominately fished the area underneath the railroad bridge, and Honestly I spent more than half my time practicing with my cast net on the schools of shad that were around here.

I did however have some success though this time, and I managed to catch a decent sized LM bass on a live shad that I hooked in the back, and let drift in the current.
I honestly was about to pack my bags and move to a different location(along the dam shoreline) and was actually reeling in the line on my second rod to pack up and move when I realized I had a fish on the line!

This second rods reel was really kinda cheap, but I had a good time fighting this bass against the current. It took me 5 minutes or so to fully get him reeled in.

Here is a picture of him.

Afterwards I let him go, with the free breakfast he ate. </p>

I didnt have any more luck fishing after that. I did however catch some small shad with my cast net which my aquarium fish took great delight in consuming.

Observation while fishing.
There were very occasionally some small schools of bait fish that were jumping the surface occasionally. Could be skipjack?
There were also just a couple large splashes that could have been some larger fish breaking the surface. Not very frequent though.

On a side note, I can confirm that there are some good sized striped bass that are beginning to move up through the N chickamauga creek. I took a expedition up the creek and saw a striper carcass. And it looked exactly like the large fish I noticed moving up the creek earlier. I have not been watching the creek to notice if they are still moving up the creek, or if there are more or less of them than before.

I did notice several schools of shad, or baitfish as I went up the creek.(just occasional schools.)

The area of the creek that runs along that golf course that is right off of hixson pike, is loaded with lots of fingerlings of various species, and is not easily navigated by kayak(there is a decent current as well). Be prepared to wade a few times, or portage in this stretch.

Also the area of the creek from the hixson pike bridge, to the old hixson pike bridge, I think has some underwater springs that feed into the creek, and I saw at least 4 schools of 10 or more carp, that were all at least 2 ft long.

If you have any questions ask away. I plan on making regular fishing reports whenever I can. And I will share any observations I have as well. My goal is to just help others have better luck with fishing based on what I find.

Hopefully I can learn better technique, and learn how to fish better, so I can have more success, and work on making a comprehensive(and free) guide of the waters I fish, to help people have lots of success in the areas I learn.
