The 3rd annual Crackerfest will be held out of Chester Frost Park on Saturday May 10th. Most of you know the date and the general concept behind Crackerfest but for the new members I would like to take a moment and explain this event. The event is scheduled to start at 7am from the Chester Park Boat Ramp and conclude back at the CFP Boat Ramp at 1pm.The cost is $5 a person and not to exceed $20 a family and a waiver form must be filled out for all participants. Please print one off for each person , sign and turn it in as you register Saturday morning. This event is laid back and not $$ driven. We will weigh your 10 biggest Bream / Shell Crackers and give away small cash to the winning weights. Depending on the number of people which participate, the winnings will be spread out as far as possible. This event is not about the cash prizes. Once the weighin is complete, we will put all the children's name in a hat and have a drawing. Each child's name which is drawn will get to come up and pick from an assortment of prizes. These prizes have been donated from local CFF Members , SportingGood stores, Wal-Mart and our CFF Owner (First Light). In the past we have had enough donations for all that participated to receive a prize. I hope it will be the same way this year. This event is geared toward the family and focused on the Children. The fish which are weighed in are kept and a few of us have a cleaning party Saturday evening and donate the fish to the CFF picnic. Last year we cleaned over 500 fish. This year we are not going to ask that participants keep additional fish (over the 10 they weighin) in order to eliminate an all night fish cleaning party. If you do catch a few fish that are of good size which is over the 10 fish limit, we will take them but please don't keep additional small fish to donate. I know there may be a few small ones in your 10 fish limit and that is OK but in years past we were donated even more fish than we weighed and the majority of them were rather small. Feel free to join us at the cleaning party which in years past has been held at Kathy's (TNDOE'S) which is only a few miles from CFP.

Once again this event is for everyone yet the main goal is to get the kids on the water or bank and have an enjoyable day together. The children do not have to be yours, you can borrow one for the day and if you don't have one to borrow you are more than welcome to come and participate and enjoy in a fun day of fellowship.

A few other things: This event is laid back and since some that participate will have a shorter attention span than others, you do not have to start at 7am. As long as we receive the small entry fee and a release form for each person that is participating, you can begin fishing at your own time and for that matter, your own location. The only thing we ask is everyone be at CFP at 1pm. If you need to sign up early and will start at your own time, PM me or TNDOE and we will make arrangements to meet prior to Saturday.

CFP also has a swimming area and play ground for those which attention span runs a little shorter than anticipated.

We want this event to be a joy and a lasting memory for all those that participate.

If you would like to donate something for this event let me know.

Also PLEASE SIGN UP ON THE CALANDER SO WE WILL HAVE AN IDEA OF THE NUMBERS TO EXPECT.

Thanks and look forward to Crackerfest 2008.

Jason (JSV)
