I guess that Too Many To Count is ... a lot!

I guarentee the picnic folks appreciate the efforts and will provide special "rewards" for those involved. Can I get a list?

Thanks.

We didn't get an official count however I feel safe to say there were 400 cleaned Saturday Night!
I took a cooler home and cleaned an additional 163 Sunday afternoon.
We will have some good eating for the PicnicemoHungry
However there are many nuggetts but we made an honest attempt to get all the meat and clean even the small fish.
I will say the size was much better this year. We still had several small fish but it worked out well!
I would also like to say.........out of all the fish we cleaned, I bet there wasn't 20 with eggs in thememoQuestion
I know the males come in , make the bed. The females come in lay and the males take over and guard. I still would of thought we would of had a lot of females.
My question for the PROS is..... Have the females already spawned out? or Have they not arrived yet?

I'm not a pro, but I know I was catching an occasional female on Tuesday of last week and not a single one Saturday. I think instinct right before and durring spawn is for a female to stop eating. The females should start hitting again soon, but you won't find them on the beds.

That was kinda what I was thinking. I think they may have already moved up and back off but didn't know? I believe we timed the Crackerfest about right this year. Eventhough it was a little cool and rainy early, we all caught fish and it wasn't 100 deg. like last year.

I think the timeing was spot on.

I don't like to take females full of eggs, even bluegill. We were withing 3 days of the full moon. I think the best practice for the future would be to see which month the warming waters would put them on bed and then pick the Saturday closest to Full Moon...

I agree with you DoubleB. Sharkbait and I caught several big females that were ready to burst. We released every one of them even though they were some heavyweights.

In my experiance, I do not think that the majority of the bream are fanning beds yet. The Bream I have been catching are coming from staging areas and have not moved into the shallow waters yet. That is only refering to Chickamauga Lake where the water is still slowly rising.

I think the fish know and are waiting to see the water level stablize before they risk getting stranded in the shallows with dry beds. I know where there is a two acre bedding area in 2' of water that has zero beds as of Sunday.

Rsimms I know you know where that creek runs into that cove with all the pea-gravel and stumps. I saw you point it out one time.
