Never really fished them, but my son caught a couple goods ones on them last week. How do you choose color on crankbaits?

This is the first year I have really fished the crankbairs. Have done pretty good with them.

I have gotten to be a fan of lipless crankbaits this year and have done really well! especially Repala brand and in the no. 5 weight. shad colors as well as brighter fluorescent colors. Crawdad cranks work well also

anyone that knows me knows I fish a crank year round, and have for 30+ years I always have 2 -4 tied on I always always always have a square bill of some size on and a deeper rounded bill a jerk bait (yes year round) and a lip-less (yes year round also)always in some shad pattern. the only time I personally worry about color is when the water is stained or at night , then i will go to a darker color. I use mostly 4 basic colors white, gray, red, chartreuse. the more clear the water and bright the skies the "less" color i use. hopefully this helps you get started. also for the record ( I have been throwing the same color and size square bill since Sept and weighing in limits each time). I had an old friend tell me one time that most lures are designed to catch fishermen not fish.

I was fishing on Douglas lake last weekend in the BFL as a Co Angler and they were using XD10 blue gill in the deep water. Didn't do much good on the overcast day but they guy told my he has been catching them like with it.

I like blue herring or shad for my squarebill's. Rapala, DT-6, DT-10, I start with Old sckool ( lotsa pale yellow). Deep SK Ghost shad or the old stand by, Firetiger.
