Me and Cherakee Ridge went to the Chick today to get him some crappie. They were still there doing what they have been doing for the last couple of weeks. I am not sure just how many we caught but a good guess I would say was around 80 with 19 nice keepers that are going to make CR some good eating.emoHungry I would say for every keeper we had about 3 non-keeprs so I am guessing that is a close number. They were on trees and docks but not all that tight to them today. No sun so some seemed to be roming. We went into one place I love to use top water and I just had to break out the spook. I bet I made maybe 10 cast and boomemoEek a nice 13 to 14 inch splaat hit it and the first bass on the spook this year came in. I had another hit it but did not take it. then on the way back out I had one come out from under a dock and destroy it that looked to be at least 3 to 4 lbs. But when I set the hook she was on for just a second and came off.emoAngry Still it was great to see some top water blow ups.emoCool I was using an orange/chartruse on my crappie and CR was using red/chartruse and just chartruse. They seemed to be in water ranging from 3 to 8 feet and hit very light for the most part. We missed a lot of them. had a great time there CR hope you enjoy your fish.emoTongue Jmax

I saw you guys at the ramp around noon as I passed by WT. It's good to hear that the topwater bite is warming up.

If you think Jim is not a top water junkie think again , a couple of blowups and he looked like a kid at Christmas .I had to see a Dr. at 2:00 and he had to sign Ryan out of school around 1:00 so we called it a day about 12:30. On my way to town (in the rain) I saw that he had circled back and put the boat back in and was at it again in the rain . He should change his handle to Spookmax. We had a great day , I guess the weather forecast kept lots of folks in ,the boat traffic was lighter today than it's been all week. Not a bad day for two old semi-retired geezers . Thanks Jim
If you know a kid thats wants to fish and you've been putting him off ,Now is the time . Tie a jig on his pole and take him crappie fishing , he'll be hooked for life.
