Well other than the foray with Paulj to Florida today was officially my first day of crappie fishing this season. I went to Rocky Mtn. PFA by myself and absolutely slayed them. Started out at 8 am trolling around a huge brushpile in Antioch West water temp was 55 and the depth varied from 7 to 13 feet. I was using a 1/32 oz minnow head jig with a Kahlin's Green Hornet 2" grub. Had a limit ( 30 fish) by about 11:30 and went hunting for larger fish. I went to the riprap and picked up some nice 11 to 12 inch crappie still on the Green Hornet. The sun got up and warmed the water to 60.5 by afternoon and the larger fish came from 12 to 15 foot water. The last 7 or eight came from a black/blue/chartruse grub on the same 1/32 oz minnow head.
It was hard to leave but I had other things to do so I left biting fish about 3 pm.
