Well dad and I hit the lake today around noon looking for some new places for crappie. We found some great looking docks(depth and all) but none of them yeilded any crappie at all not even one. On the other hand,we did load the boat with bass! I mean we absolutley tore up the spots and smallies today! I tried to keep count, but lost it around 20. I was good to measure (sp?) the fish though just to check and see what an average size was,and came up with an average length of (just spots) 13 inches or so. Lots of keepers, that included a 2lb spot that I caught and a 3.5lb smallie that my dad caught. He caught all the smallmouths (6) and they all came off of minnows. That's all he used all day. I was using a albino shad colored panfish assasin w/ 1/32 oz leadhead. On the fish that got away,I did hook into a great largemouth,I figured at least 4lbs but he spit my jig back at me. So I still have not found any new crappie holes, but still had a good time. Now I am needing to hit the river for some stripe,i've never fished for them in a boat . Ought to be intresting,my dad has never caught a true stripe(just white bass) so I look forward to seeing the look on his face if I can get him hooked up.

Glad you and your dad had a great time. Good report too. I like to crappie fish when I can but the bass catching in the numbers like you got is mucho fun too. Your dad will love hooking stripers. Spend every minute you can with him.

Did you fish the dock in the Coast Guard slough? I found them in there last year about this time in big numbers. About half-way back.emoGeezer

No, I thought about it though. We stayed across the lake up towards privateer and big ridge marinas( in between ).
