JWAteacher and I got out for about 6 hours of crappie fishing today. We could have picked a better day to go. Wind out of the NNE blowing just hard enough to be a nuisance and cold.

We started out catching a couple of keepers right off the bat and a couple of throwbacks, and I thought that this was going to be a good day. Wrong! We only caught 5 keepers and about 8-10 throwbacks. Several good bream and 2 yellow bass and 1 golden shiner. Oh, I almost forgot. I caught 1 trash fish, (spot) which is no longer in the land of the living. He is in the freezer along with the other few fish that we caught.

Fish were caught around 10 feet deep on 1/32 oz and 1/16 oz jigs with plastic bodies. Plastic minnows and tubes. We could not find a concentration of fish. The fish appear to be scattered up there where we fished.

We are going to try for stripers in the morning. Teacher, you had better bundle up. emoGeezer

I'll bet that they are bunched up somewhere and you were just getting the straglers. Did you fish open water or docks/cover? Last time that I was out they had gone away from the cover and I didn't have time to fish the creek channel. I caught a few off some warmer water but only a couple.

We were fishing the edge of a creek channel and the fish were right on the edge and probably about 6-8 feet deep. There are scattered stumps on the edge of the channel that we were fishing and water depth was up to 17 feet in the middle of the creek. Water temp was around 51 degrees.emoGeezer
