Anyone been crappie fishing with good results on the Chick? My daughter is raring to go and I was wanting to take her this weekend if possible. Just need a little help on location or what to throw.

I don't know about crappie, but bluegill and shellcracker are firing up in a big way. That can be even better for youngsters than crappie. Go look in "the corners," back-ends of sloughs and cuts... 3-8 feet of water. I like using plain bream hook, slide a 1/8th ounce worm sinker on line... use a BB split shot a foot or two above hook as stopper for sliding worm sinker. You can cast into 3 feet and just drag it along and work everything out to deeper water. When you catch one big, black bull bream, STOP! and remember exact spot. There will be more there... possibly LOTS more. Once located you can start using a bobber if the kids prefer that. I prefer wax worms... effective, clean and if you don't use 'em all, they refrigerate well. I've kept them for weeks and weeks. Have fun no mater what you fish for.

SHHHHHHHH Your giving away all my secrets!!!!! LOL

What he said. I'm going out for Crackers tomorrow!

Thanks for the info Richard.  She has been on me hard about taking her. I figure maybe a few minnows for crappie and some jigs. She has already asked for crickets to catch her "monster" bream with.

the crappie are still biting on the hiwassi/chick....we went wed. evening and had 17 keepers....just got back in from fishing this morn...we had 25 keepers...we are still catching them casting grubs in water 2 - 5 foot deep.....i believe a person can also do good with minnows in brush and laydowns right now
