Anyone been crappie fishing with good results on the Chick? My daughter is raring to go and I was wanting to take her this weekend if possible. Just need a little help on location or what to throw.

I don't know about crappie, but bluegill and shellcracker are firing up in a big way. That can be even better for youngsters than crappie. Go look in "the corners," back-ends of sloughs and cuts... 3-8 feet of water. I like using plain bream hook, slide a 1/8th ounce worm sinker on line... use a BB split shot a foot or two above hook as stopper for sliding worm sinker. You can cast into 3 feet and just drag it along and work everything out to deeper water. When you catch one big, black bull bream, STOP! and remember exact spot. There will be more there... possibly LOTS more. Once located you can start using a bobber if the kids prefer that. I prefer wax worms... effective, clean and if you don't use 'em all, they refrigerate well. I've kept them for weeks and
weeks. Have fun no mater what you fish for.
