crappie fishing Watts Bar 11/5/2006

Got to fish a little while this morning. Shot two dock and got 18 keeper crappie that avg out to be about 13 inches apiece. Not bad morning except for being really cold going across the water this morning. Well I guess I will have to do it again and keep them to make a mess of fish for supper one night. YUM!!

Are docks usually the ticket on the Bar? I boated some really nice ones this spring there on a small row of docks just goofing off when I was supposed to be bass fishing. I was throwing a small black w/chart. tail grub and just slow cranking it around the wooden posts. I only did it the last hour or so of a day I was there and was just wondering if that was the preferred method. I usually like to vertical jig tube jigs but the casting worked well that day.

I usually catch them on docks this time of year, and also early spring. During the winter, I like to troll the creek channels in 10 to 20 ft of water

I like dock most of the year but do real good on them fall to spring. I ain't crazy about trolling but will do it if I have to. I know lots of folks that do good doing that with either crank or curl tail grubs.
