Fished for a couple of hours the past two days with my father-in-law. Fished a brush pile that I hadn't fished in years since every dock and piece of brush in the creek had a boat on it. Everybody and their brother was out there yesterday. The brush pile that I fished is out in open water and is near the creek channel and was covered up in 10-12 inch crappies. It took me a little time to find it but once I did it was fish on most every cast and good ones. Today the wind was blowing so hard that we couldn't keep our jigs down in the strike zone out in the open water and couldn't stay on the pile. Caught one that must have been from the pile that was 11 inches but didn't catch another from there. Went to a dock that Jmax and I had caught a bunch of good fish off of last week and there were a bunch there again. The fish over the brushpile were coming up to a jig that was only a three to four count deep and on the dock it was a 5-7 count. Finally they quit at that dock and we went farther back in the creek and fished for the small fish that were on a dock near my house. The fish were thick all over my dock and brush pile and another dock nearby but there were very few keepers. The little ones were hitting on the drop or only on a 3-5 count drop but got a hit on nearly every cast. If anyone has a child that they want to get hooked on fishing now is the time and fish the docks in the mid creek to the split off of Long Savanah creek. They will hit almost anything, I was using panfish assassins but a good friend was fishing a brush pile near my house all day and must have caught between 50 and 100 off that pile alone. He was using tubes and marabou jigs, all 1/32 oz. I was cleaning some fish and they must have caught 20 or more as I was working. There are probably good fish in the sloughs as there are bunches of cars parked near the road at Ramsey slough (hint, hint, TT).
