emoAngler Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on fishing crappie in the Suck Creek\Chickamauga Lake area. What are some good lures to use (as well as techniques) and some good bank fishing spots? Also does anyone know where I can get some live Wax worms around here? The preserved ones don't offer near as much success as the live ones. Thanks ahead for any advice you can offer! Best of luck!

Welcome Rook!

I have never fished Suck Creek, but right now, it should produce using the same pattern as the rest of the waters around here.

ANY type structure is giving up fish in the 4-15' range, and most any small panfish jigs are working.

Look through the current fishing reports, and you will see folks offering the exact colors and depths they are doing well with.

Bset advice I can offer...use 4lb Hi-viz line, it really does make a big difference! Good luck, and please make fishing reports.

Thanks for the response! Any suggestions on what kind of presentation crappie prefer? I have never really fished for crappie. Just bass and bream fishing when I am short on time and looking for a quick catch. Thanks again!

Recent temperatures seem to be provoking spawning activities in the white crappie, they will be in shallow areas. When they are feeding they seem to resort to ambush hunting like bass on shad, but it's crappie on minnows. Any bait fish imitation or live 1-2 inches long pulled out into the open next to crappie hiding in brush should work.
