Going to be taking my nephew crappie fishing friday on the chick. I dont know much about catching a crappie all. Any info would be helpful on how to find them this time of year, where they will be at, what they like (bait wise). He likes to use artificial lures and im not to sure about what lures are best for crappie so any advice at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!!!!!

I'm sorry that I didn't see your thread until tonight. I have still been catching fish if and when I try for them fishing docks that have good flow either in the creek or on the main channel as long as there is at least 13 feet on the outside edge. They are deep but I fish with a 1/32 oz jighead with a 1.5 inch panfish assassin and count it down at least 15 seconds and most of the fish have been more like a 18 to 20 second count down from the surface. Just reel very slowly and stop for 2-3 seconds every full turn of the reel or so and watch for the line to just barely twitch, then set the hook. The fish are still really active and often the middle of the day is the best as the bright sunshine concentrates the fish in the deepest, darkest shadows of the docks. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Ditto what Polo said. Polo, you sure do know your crappie fishing. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

thanks for the info. i hope we can catch some my nephew is 2 and i am trying to keep him interested in fishing. He already loves it. I know he is young but if i can keep him interested early then maybe I can keep him away from drugs and trouble later on down the road.
