I had a few minutes to fish yesterday and fished a brush pile very close to my home (if you know what I mean). I had some minnows and tried fishing on the edges of the pile first but didn't get much action. Then tried right on top of the pile and only fished 2-3 feet deep and caught one right after the other. Fished for less than 1/2 hour and caught 10 or so. All were small and only two were legal but they were fun. I spoke with someone last night that he had a very similar experience down on Nickajack yesterday but the fish were averaging 1.5 lbs. All of the fish were super shallow over brushpiles. The brushpile I was fishing stands in about 8-10 feet of water and is right next to the creek channel. About 2/3 were black crappies and 1/3 were whites. Those were the first white crappies that I had caught all year. I was fishing at about 6pm and it was beautiful out there. I think that I'll go for a few minutes today, right now. I'll let you know how I do.
