When the Kid told me at Christmas he was thinking of opening a Crappie guide business for maybe just the spring and fall, I thought to myself I know the perfect people for his first outing.....(you know just to test him to see if he had the patience to do this as a real job) So I get the call from a couple of my nieces that need a break from their "hectic life" (how hectic is Mall shopping, attending college, and going to all the UT Games) I tell them I need them to break in a buddy of mines new business...."Are we going shopping?" one of them asked me, I said "no, better, ya'll are going fishing"
"Fishing"
"yes Fishing" long, long silence and then.....
"ok, as long as we don't have to touch them"
"Don't worry, your guide (TWK) will take all the fish off the hook" HAHAHAH.....
So I place the call and meet the kid at a local dock, and inside I am laughing so hard because he has NO IDEA what he is in for......after a quick boat ride to a dock, the first thing they do is ask each other if their hair is ok (KID, I told you that wind was too much for those girls/DIVAs hairdoos) I get the look from the kid 'What have I got myself into'
I am still laughing so hard I can barely keep it together!
He got them on a few little crappie, and just as everything runs n a family, one of them said "I thought you knew how to catch big fish!" I was smilin' ear to ear, and was so proud of her so saying that without me teaching that one to her! HAHAHAHAH.....Now the pressure is on the Kid....He yanked that trolling motor up as fast as he could and took them to spot that is so top secret even he has to blindfold himself to get there!
"I'll show you big fish" and as a excellent guide does, he gets Charity her first TARP Crappie (really her first fish ever).......now Lydia is screaming "she is your favorite" "I wanna catch a big fish" and I am getting a towel for Charity's hands but quickly realize that the kid needs it more to wipe the sweat off his brow! HAHAHAHA
Lydia lands her first big slab, almost a tarp.....GAME ON NOW.....
Once the girls got settled in, TWK, pulls the spiderman rod out (Brian, Why Why WHY do you have a spiderman rod on your boat?....just sayin) Now he is showing out, so me being obligated to keep him in line knows now is the time for the fake bite trick.....with the unknowing help by my nieces, I with such determination reach over and tap Spiderman, and he set that hook so hard it was as if Spiderman was swinging from one building (or one boat to another) .......It TARPS all the fake bite tricks I have ever pulled, but it almost landed me in the river! It would have been worth it if he threw me in!!!! My side is still hurting this am from laughing so hard!
Thanks Kid for making my nieces realize that I am their favorite aunt, and as they said last night "I got a cool awesome friend!"
As for the TWK guide service it opened and closed all on the same day!
