The Eagle Has Landed!!! Picked up my new boat Wednesday, It came from VA thru a snow shower, for me to pick up in Kingsport, TN. Its a new last year model of the G-3 176 Vinyl, with a 70 HP 4 stroke yamaha. Am I loving it or what, working on the break in period now with the engine, but on a couple of occasion, I would have to turn around an make sure it was still running because the engine is so much quiter than I am use too. The steering has been a little tight, but thanks to DK giving it a couple of shots of grease for me yesterday am, that is getting better too.
Before I caught a fish out of it, foremost, I took Lily out and about yesterday am in the creek, the watch a sunrise....Its Lily approved, so I think I made the right decision, I know I am gonna love the Vinyl, once Lily takes her swim and decides to jump back in with muddy paws... Plus easy clean up too from fish slim! Thanks to all the CFF'ers that help me in making my new boat decision, I hope I did not drive you all too crazy, lots of good advise was much appreciated.
Now on to the fishing report....After Lily enjoyed her maiden ride in the creek, I set out to make sure the first fish that came into that boat was a crappie, (sorry DK you where at Cosco, you might have brought a drum in anyways)....I went to my first dock, and sure enough first cast, using my go to color BG electric chicken 1/16 jig I landed a 11.5 black crappie on a 8 ct....Life is Good, now my boat is a reality and not a dream....Moved around alot in the creek with a varied amount of temps as the day passed quickly. My 2 best keepers where off of blow downs way out in front of the actual tree....only nonkeeper I got was a 9" that hit just as my jig landed under a new dock I tried, before I could even count....Nothing was the same anywhere I went on catching and temps, and the water level dropped some here in the creek from the time I left early that am till I got home about 2:30pm. I ended the day with 7 total, and an extra 2.5 hours break in on the engine.
Got to meet and talk with Rsimms, what a great gentlemen, Thanks again for all the info and advise about the G-3 boats.
DK, I am ready now for you to do the driving....I do believe you are the king of Trolling Motors too! emoBigsmile
