What do all of you think about the "new" current price of gas?
Some of my stations have new supplies of gas as of (Friday) and are still charging over $4.
I thought there were laws against this.
Anybody going to run wide open for a tournament?
Anybody going to run a long distance, wide open for a tournament?
The price of a barrel of oil is near record lows of $101 and some change as of today.
Figure that out!
It's getting very expensive to have fun!

Article from the Chatanoogan newspaper this evening:

Wholesale Gas Price Tops $5 Per Gallon
Some Stations Out Of Gas; Others Rationing
posted September 12, 2008
A station in Decherd and another in Winchester had gas at $5.29 a gallon, according to www.tennesseegasprices.com.

Also, state Attorney General Robert Cooper issued this statement about possible price gouging.
He said, "As Hurricane Ike makes landfall on the Texas coast, I am asking Tennesseans to be on the lookout for potential price gougers.
"Some individuals may try to take advantage of potential victims of one of the nation's largest hurricanes by unreasonably raising the prices they charge for essential goods and services, including gasoline. This practice is called price gouging and is unlawful in Tennessee.
"The state has the ability under the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act and other laws to prosecute price gougers,
Mary Clement, the director of the Division of Consumer Affairs, said consumers may call the state's consumer hotline at 1-800-342-8385 to report price gouging activities.
Consumers who believe they may have been charged an unreasonably price for a good, commodity or service should contact the Division of Consumer Affairs at 1-800-342-8385 (toll-free inside Tennessee) or (615) 741-4737.
Wholesale gas is now higher than $5 per gallon, an official of Knoxville-based Pilot Oil said Friday.

Sounds like we need to make a lot of calls to the TN Consumer Affairs Office.
$3.50 to over $5.00, who is being taken advantage of???

On Friday I was driving to Milledgeville GA and watched the price raise .50 throughout the day. It was the craziest thing I'd ever seen.
