My first time on Dale Hollow today. It's as many of you described, it's one of the prettiest bodies of water in the South. John and I launched at daybreak and we headed North. Not alot to report. Fish were caught in depths ranging from 10-25 ft using jigs and float-n-flies. No real size to any of them. The only people on the lake catching fish of any real size were using shiners. We watched one fella land a solid 5 lber on'em. The warmest water we found was 46 degrees. I'd never fished a lake where you can see your lure 20 feet down. Fishing with a 10 foot pole was difficult at first but I slowly got the gist of it. Thanks John for an enjoyable day.

I meant to tell you to bring an ultra light up there too with a couple of small spinners - the rainbows will slam 'em when the bass fishing is tough.

Glad you bagged a few,

PG

Dale Hollow is beautiful. I haven't been there in more than 30 years but I need to get back there sometime. It is deep and clear, like you said. I had a tackle box that went to the bottom when a john boat flipped over in 15-20 feet and I dove down later, found it and salvaged everything. I've not been in water like that other than in the keys for clarity.

Good report. That is cool that you went somewhere new, tried something new and were successful. I went there one time, it is a beautiful lake, I caught only rainbows on a 3 inch grub, but they were fun and fat.

I love Dale Hollow !! My last trip up there was October 06 and I caught a 5lb largemouth in 20 foot of water on a pop-r!! Night fishing in the summer is outstanding too! Glad to hear you had some success.
