I'm going to Dale Hollow, has anyone heard what the smallies are hitting on? Patterns?emoScratch

Silver buddies are always a good choice up there, along with grubs. Just google some bait shops and give them a call. They will be glad to tell you where and what they are biting on. The smallies are probably still deep (20-40 foot) , so live bait may be the answer. Drift shiners right off the bottom. That's what the guides do.

I grew up fishing that lake on the KY side. This time of year we catch most smallies on live fan tail minnows around Trooper Island in 15 - 35 ft along channel edge drops. Very nice clean deeeeeeep lake. spoons also work in the same spots almost as good....good luck.

Let a bro know on how it goes because I am gettin ready to head up there myself for a few days.

One of my friends went up there . He used a 3inch green pepper. Thay cought a few nice keepers. Hope you have good luck.

where you putting in? I would use nothing more than 6lb test.... Bluff walls... middle of lake down to dam. Small baits hair jigs, small grubs. I would also have a rod rigged up with a spook jr. Main points
and concentrate on very distinct drops. Want be long before they start moving up in the creeks so around the mouths of creeks would be a good place to start. Some creeks I like this time of year are Galton Hollow, Iron, Mitchell, Holly creek. Don't be afraid to keep
boat in 70 foot of water. A lot of the bluff walls have very good ledges. good luck!
