Hey guys, my name is Danny and I moved to Chattanooga a couple years ago. I'm from Miami, FL and did a good amount of largemouth and peacock bass fishing down there, as well as deep sea. I love fishing and plan on getting a kayak soon to take on Chickamauga Lake, TN River, etc. I've thrown a few lines out a couple of times around Harrison Bay and Booker T Washington but never had much success. I'm looking for a place where I can fish for largemouth or smallmouth bass or crappie without needing to be on the water (for now until I get my kayak). I have never tried to catch stripers or waleyes so I am open to any help in that department as well. I am not looking to get anyone's honey hole, simply an idea of where i would have some success because pulling over randomly to drop a line hasn't helped. I am grateful and appreciate any information I can get. I am not familiar with temperature nor seasonal changes because in Miami it's always hot and summer. Haha. Thanks

If you go to the HBSP area and walk out to the main river from the park road there are several places deep water will be within casting distance for someone standing on the bank. You have to walk a little to get there but I have seen a lot of folks do it. One place is as you drive into the park camping area you will see a hiking sign on your right before you ever reach the check in station for the camp grounds. Park there and walk to the end of the land at the farthest part of the trail. That is deep water and has crappie and bass this time of year. Once the water comes back up all those pockets and points will. emoThumbsup Jmax

I've seen quite a few people catching crappie right now from the bank where Jmax mentioned and the dam area above and below is always good for a variety of fish. Good luck with your fishing !emoAngler

Welcome!

The bridge at Snow Hill Rd (Wolftever area) is loaded up with crappie. I was getting hit just about every cast a couple weeks ago. Not much on the size, but fun to catch if you need to feel something pulling on the other end. Also, the Riverpark area between the dam and Riverpark ramp can be good at times and easy to access just down from the dam.
