Churly and I decided to hit it on Saturday (I thought the Tx was then....??). We got on the water at around 8 am and I immediately noticed that the plug was out, not a good way to start. Well, after pulling back out and putting the stupid plug in, we headed up above Harrison Bay to some of the coves. We both connected pretty quickly on red XR 50's, then Churly took over. He switched to a chrome and blue back rattler. He caught a really nice keeper and then a couple more dinks. The water was in the high 60's and we were fishing pretty shallow. Just before lunch, we went down to some coves around Patten Island. I hooked a nice 4 1/2 lbers on a Chart/ blue DT 10 in around 8-9 feet of water, in the middle of the cove. He about ripped the rod out of my hand. I caught one or two more on the DT 10 on some chunk rock at the mouth of the cove. After lunch we went above Harrison again. I caught a couple on a greenish/ clear Lucky Craft LVR in water less than 3 feet deep. Churly was still catching bucks on the silver/ blue rattler. For some reason I picked up a dark green Mann's Hardnose lizard and started wearing them out. I lost count of how many were caught, but most of them were so shallow that the trolling motor was kicking up mud. Most of them were males that were just cruising the shallows, so those big sows have to be somewhere nearby. We figured that our best 5 would have weighed between 14-15 lbs. Great day on the lake, along with everyone else who owned a boat.
