Me and Ranger350V headed out of Mud Creek (Dayton) yesterday. The day was pretty successful and we caught fish numerous ways. Unfortunately, my favorite med. diving crankbait technique wasn't working.
ALL of our fish came off of steep rip-rap or deep water bluffs.
Caught fish on DD22's, black/blue soft plastic craw, caught 2 keepers early on Wave Worms Tiki frog, and caught 3 keepers on Culprit 7.5" worm in watermelon.

We started out throwing the Wave Worms Tiki Frogs over some underwater vegetation, we didn't get on the water till 8 so the topwater bite wasn't gonna last much longer. We managed to boat 2 keepers for a total of 4.1 pounds. Alright I'm thinkin, this could be fun.

Next we switched to flipping deepwater docks with rip-rap around (similar to Wolftever) and came up with 4 keepers but none bigger than any others. We were using black/blue Strike King 3X craws and 7.5 Culprit worms in Watermelon Candy. So, we had 5 fish in the boat that weighed 9.2 pounds by the scales.

As the day progressed we quit with the docks and headed to some deep underwater points and humps. from 12-2 we managed 8 fish on the DD22's. But only one was big enough to cull.

We ended the day with 5 keepers that would go right at 10 lbs, and a total of 17 fish for the day. Not bad at all to only use 3 gallons of gas!!

We made it back in and loaded up before the storms hit, so all was well there.
I must say it was a pleasant day to be on the water.

Here is Ranger with one of his fish using the black/ blue craws.

Also, on the way home we stopped by Soddy Custom Tackle to pick up a few things. This guy wanted his picture made of this nice smallmouth.
Thought you might enjoy!

Good report frazier! Thanks for the detailed report and the time line. Glad you got on a few. Nice looking pics too. Thanks again for the report.emoThumbsup

Great report! Only problem is that Ranger needs a longer arm. He could have added another 2 lbs. to that fish. emoBigsmile

A wise one aren't ya Richard??

I thought you were the father of the "hold your arm out to make them look bigger" technique. hehe :)

My photo tactics come from that crazy fellar that runs the Outdoors Section of the Chattanoogan.

J/K man- but I did get my trolling motor fixed after my dad picked up that bracket from Preston. Thanks a ton for the connection there.

It's a good technique... the trick is to get them to bend the elbow just a little. Then it's not quite so obvious. Glad the trolling motor mount worked out. I have no idea why Preston called me to pass the info along... but for your sake, I'm glad he did.
