RE: DEAR ABBY

Breeze, it's unfortunate, but it happens every once in a while. A suprising number of fish survive carrying "piercings", just like our kids do. And fish will pass hooks too. Yesterday one of the catfish had passed a BIG hook almost completely, just the barb and some of the braided line were still in it. It probobly felt like a hemorrhoid, so I helped it out!emoSmile

Dr EricM, the catfish doctor! Did you have to gas him Eric or did the smell from the boat serve as an anesthetic? emoUpsmile emoGeezer

emoUpsmile emoLaugh Now that's funny! DK I can relate to that very well. I know when I come up to Eric always do it on the up wind side or you may pass out.emoLaugh Jmax

Sheesh, what is up with the gut-hookings last night? I had two swallow the hook yesterday, one an 18 1/4" smallie, and had to leave the hook in. Not long after, 2jigs stuck a 3lbr on a c-rig and it was also hooked deep.

I have often heard that the stomach acid will eventually corrode the hook and break it down. Is that true? Or something one fisherman passed on to another to make him feel better about potentially killing a fish?
