I am actively looking for a boat. DTW2's boat definately has my attention (UK BLUE) as does chicken liver's. What is considered "good" hrs on a boat motor. (ie 12000 miles per yr for cars).emoScratch

For me it is more about the upkeep/maintenance of the engine than the number of hours.

I understand upkeep is key, some are and some are not. But I have seen some advertised that say 36 hrs on motor. You are very correct scheduled maintenance and general upkeep are the keys to long time enjoyment. Thanks for the scoop.

Army Sarge, the hours is not really a factor as has been stated. The up keep of the motor and frequency of lubrication and tune ups and such is a better key as to whats going on in one. You can check the compression on the motor and be sure all cylinders are with in ten percent of one another, check the foot lube and make sure theres no water in it, check to make sure the oil injection is working if still hooked up and stuff like that.

Take a good look at the boat for major wear and tear on it and the trailer. Check the tires and the bunks to see if the boat is sitting steady on the tailer and just a good overall going over. Then you have to decide for yourself if thats what you want and if it is what you need. Buy the one thats right for you and have fun!

I agree upkeep is a major factor. My engine is three years old and has 570 hours on it and runs like a top.
