My charger is charging the battery to approximately 63% and then just hangs there for hours. Eventually the numbers start blinking as if fully charged. The Charger is a schumacher Ship-n-shore 2-10-15. I really only charge it on the 2 amp charge. The water seems to be full and nothing really has changed, not doing anything different. When I first test the voltage is is only saying approx 8.1, but when charging it will jump to about 11.7? Im confused. Would appreciate any help, thanks.

Try using the 15 amp for 10-12 hour and then see what it reads......a hygrometer gives the most accurate reading of battery i`ve been told by the interstate guys.
something about surface charges and sulfation on the plates.....I ve spent hours researching this junk and never really learned anything for certain.....lots of opinions and contradictions.
what I have learned from experience is hitting a battery with a hot charge for a while will help boost the charge they will take.
I ran a starting battery beyond dead one day with high power driving light i didn`t know was turned on.
After charging for 24 hours and getting a dead reading I decided to give one last try. I turned the 50 amp booster start switch on the charger and and took it out side to charge for about 10 hours....put a board on top just in case it blew. Then charged it out with the 10 setting and used it for 2 more years. Batteries are pain in the butt !
Supposedly a hard charge will pop the sulfation off the plates and allow it to accept a better charge

Most batteries need a "KICK" start on charging. I have seen alot of dead batteries not charge then put a 18V charge (kristine charge) for a few minutes then charge at lowers amps and they will come back. Start out higher then lower it down. 2 amp is basicly a Maintenace charge. That is to keep the battery charged not to really charge it. Next time try the 15 amp charge and see what happens.

Hey thanks for the help, really good information, I, just like snuffy, have researched and come up with nothing. But I will certainly try this. Thanks again.
