These are my deer from this past season. I didn't get anything huge but I did have a good season!! Anytime in the woods or on the water is a good time.

Yeah Buddy ... Deer tenderloin. "Had it last night"... And NO! That is not what she said... LOL How small was that Doe? Either she was mighty small or those leaves in the photo were huge. That is a great size for smokin' the hind quarters.</p>

It was actually a spike and it s dressed weight was 91 pounds. He was a very healthy deer. I shot him thinking he was a doe.

Liveliner only sees horns if they are huge. ;) I saw the spikes. Not bad to thin a little if you have a lot or want the meat. That one there will be some good eating. I shot one two years ago for Bbass like that I thought was a doe. He had two inch spikes. emoBang Jmax

Yes he was with a group of 21 doe. I picked out the biggest of the bunch and it wound up being the spike. It was on a check in hunt on a north ga wma. The biologist at the check station estimated him being around 9 months old. All the deer I saw that morning were very heathy. That wma has a great heard with a large population.

I have absolutely No problem shooting spikes, does nor the head Mamma Doe... If you shoot the Grand mistress doe of the herd then your chances of having more spikes increases. Reason, That doe will run any inferior bucks and related bucks clear out of her area so as to keep the herd strong and from inbreeding problems.
The reason I don't shoot statewide smaller bucks is a personal more selfish reason. I have three Buck permits and selfish me would be holding out for The Biggest and the Baddest.. Now that is selfish...

Yes I am generally a meat hunter and I only kill what I need or what my family needs. This includes my extended family. Last year I got 3. The year before I got 9, but this was due to my uncle falling on hard times so I gave him 5 deer total. I believe a person should only take what they need and use what they do take. But I do save my second buck tag for a bigger deer, as everyone else I do have a trophy hunter in me. In georgia you can only take 2 bucks on private land and sign in hunts combined, and 2 on check in hunts. So a person can kill quite a few deer in ga.
