Has anyone seen any deer that has die or dying from EHD in this area ( Epizootic Hemmorrhagic Disease ) ? Looks like a bunch of the Unit L counties are being hit hard with this disease . As much as 40 % in some areas . TWRA web site shows some reports from this area too .

I justy returned from Van Buren County on Cagle Mtn. Near Spencer, TN.  I discussed this very thing with the fellow who owns a 3,600 acre farm where I hunt.  He said there have been no dead deer in his area.  He has a good flock of buzzards that will ajert him to any dead animals on his property.  I also made a big circle in a 25 Sq Mi Plus section behind his farm with my windows down and my nose on alert.  Smelled nothing and saw no signs of dead or dying deer.  In fact I saw deer that were very alive and well.  What I have heard is that the problem is mostly in the northwestern part of the state and west of Nashville.

It is known as "Blue tounge disease" and the way to find out if your property is affected is to check the water sources. Many of the property owners experiencing this are finding deer dead in creek beds and around ponds. the deer actually die of dehydration. It is very tragic and a perfect example of why keeping a population in check is vital to health. This disease never pops up in areas that have a few deer. Its always the areas that have too many deer, such as unit L. Mother nature at work!

No sign of it around our neck of the woods as far as I can see. I spent a good bit of yesterday in the woods helping survey a tract of land behind my house and saw a few deer, but they were very healthy.

Thursday morning on the way to work I had a doe and two fawns cross right in front of my motorcycle and stop dead-center of the road. They were all fat and healthy-looking.

Just got back from my hunting area.  Walked about five miles most of which was in creek bottoms just to check several areas.  No signs of any problems with the herd.  I saw dozens of BIG BUCK HEAVY BODY TRACKS and hundreds of average sets of tracks.  Put up three ladder stands near the <strike>food plot</strike> Pumpkin patch..  There are so many deer using the main trail through my little honey hole that the trail is powdered dirt.  I can not wait....
