Well, I'm getting back into deer hunting after a 20 year delay since I've retired and can hunt through the week and beat the crowds. I hope. The thing is I have no idea where to take a deer to get it processed for the freezer IF I get lucky enough to harvest one. I've heard the tales of the places that process deer and them and their buds get the best meat and you probably don't even get your own deer back. I don't know if that's true, but that's the kind of place I don't want any part of. So, I'd like to ask, if anyone knows of a good reputable location. I don't care if it's a big place or a mom n pop operation as long as they are honest and good at what they do. Any suggestions will be much appreciated!!!

PS...I live in the Hixson area, but wouldn't mind driving 30 minutes or so to find a good honest place.

I take mine to "The Deermaster LLC". 115 McFarland Ave, Rossville, GA 30741.

middle valley deer processor 423-842-6639 they are on thrasher pike across from the elementary school at middle valley rd and thrasher pike.

Do they still use the Thin plastic wrap over the Styrofoam trays? The Food saver shrink wrap is all I will ever accept anymore.. The Heavier grade Paper wrap is second choice But no exposed meat on Styrofoam for me.

The meat I got there last year was in vacuum packed bags. As far as the burger, it was in individual 1lb packs with the top tied up. Very clean and easy to organize. ;)

Dons meat shop on Hix pk. Very quick, very clean, with a variety of extras that they can do with your venison. Have been to other places in hixson, would never go back.

Do you have to field dress them or can you just drop them off?

You're joking.....right? LOL
What's wrong with the question. There was a place where I used to hunt in ga that would gut them for 10 bucks when you dropped it off.

Yes, most places wont take a deer that hasn't been field dressed. Some do offer to do it for a fee though. I can teach you to break one down into all the usable cuts you want when you are ready and willing if you like Lance.
If your looking for straight up convenience, a processor is the way to go for sure though.
