Looking to buy a 30-06 rifle but not sure which. Looked at the Ticca and the Savage. Liked the Ticca, but also liked the Accu-Trigger. Any suggestions?

A buddy of mine bought a Tikka 300 mag and swears by it. Haven't seen a 30-06, but i'm sure the quality and craftsmanship would be the same. Savage and Winchester are two other great gun manufacturers. Can't really go wrong with any of them. Probably personal preference and comfort. Go to a big store like Gander MTN or Cabelas. You should be able to get a good feel a tleast from holding them. But i guess the real truth is how they shoot. Good luck with your purchase.

Both the Savage with the Accu trigger and the Tikka will shoot equally well. The biggest difference will be if you want to pay the extra couple hundred bucks for the better fit and finish of the Tikka.

I've got a Ruger M77 its not a 30-06 but still a 30cal in .308 for sale if you're interested in it. Its stainless and synthetic, the all weather model and has a Nikon Pro Staff scope

Thanks for the info. I came to the same conclusion that it is preference or the money. I have a browning 270, just wanted another gun.

I have a Savage .300 win mag law enforcement , heavy as he!! , I believe it will shoot with the best of then with the right ammo. Mine has the accu trigger and I have it set at 2 lbs. Sweet rifle...but not one you wanna carry all day.

It all depends on what you are willing to spend on a rifle....the deer will never know if tha bullet came from $1200 rifle or a $300 one.

Bought a tika t3 lite stainless from sportsman for 599 a couple months ago. The lightest gun I have ever carried in the deer woods. The action is also the smoothed I have felt. Mine is a .300 win mag and it delivered the guaranteed sub inch groups at 100 yards. Go hold one and work the action...

but what does it fill like when you pull the triger as a light gun in larger callabers hurt most of the time

My shoulder felt like cube steak after the 10th shot on sight-in day. But my shoulder doesnt hurt after carrying it through miles of steep mountains and the gun is deadly accurate. If you worried about the pop, Remmington makes a reduced recoil ammo...or they also make that t3 in most calibers.

You will never feel the recoil of any gun nor will you hear it go off when you shoot at a deer. I love light hunting rifles. They are painful at the bench but I will trade a little pain at the bench for less pain carrying in the field any day.

Of the two rifles mentioned by the OP I would go for the Tikka hands down over the Savage. Mainly for it's lightness but also for the smoothness of the action. The Savage though has it's merits. With the Accutrigger it is every bit as accurate as the Tikka and the price is more than $200 less. The action is rough on the Savage and it weighs close to two pounds more than the Tikka.

When I bought my Tikka. I was going to SW to look at the browing a-bolts they had on sale for 499. The last one went out the door as I walked in. Brownings are terrific rifles but they are pricey too! I promise the Tikka T3 will not disapoint!

Tikka rifles are better than the Browning A Bolt in every way a rifle can be better. Sure the A Bolt triggers are adjustable. From 9 pounds down to 5. What a joke. I have had 4 A Bolts and had to pay a gunsmith big bucks to get the triggers down to a decent weight. Browning triggers are the worst in the industry. Now the Browning X Bolt is a real nice rifle, BUT they cost upwards of a thousand bucks for a stainless synthetic.
