I don't care so much about the legality as I do what is best for the fish. I have put off fishing deep because I want to make sure I know how to treat the fish before release.

The following posts seemed particularly informed. I'm Looking for more information!!::::

I have one for Redfish but it is a little different for Bass. I Googled this site up for you. I think everyone who fishes for deep water bass needs to study this site.

Allow me to add this info to the reading. I will penetrate the skin at a very skarp angle. This keeps you from pushing your needle too deep when it pops through the skin. when you feel the needle punch through the skin then raise the needle to about a 45 degree angle. Important... The needle only needs to penetrate about 1/4" for Bass. No deeper than a maximum of 1/3 the thickness of the fish.. Lightly squeeze the stomack and you should get the excess air to start pushing out of the fish. If you do this right it will not harm the fish. The worst thing you can do it to keep the fish out of the water too long. So do this carefully but quickly. Revive your fish over the side and let her go.

If the intrals are poking out of the anus, deflate the fish but DO NOT try to push the intrals back in. Release the fish after deflated and they will go back to normal on their own. If you push them in , you will kill the fish.

(70.153.98.188) Victor ...a friend of mine is the designated sticker for a tx he fishes weekly on Cherokee...
he takes a hypo needle with a 1/2 long needle (pull the plunger out and discard) and sticks it approximately 1/4 inch above the spot in the back of his throat where all the skin squeezes down to one spot in the center.Push the needle on the same plane as the length of the fish from nose to tail. He then puts the fish back in the water in a vertical position so he can see the air come out of the hypo body. the pressure of the water on the sides of the fish will push the air out of the bladder.. Pull the needle out and release .
