I have a dell 1525 laptop that when turned on says needs password to continue. Password lost. Tried to get into bios but no luck. Does not matter which f key you tap it always gives the same screen. Do not have recovery disc. Running windows vista. anyone got any suggestions. thanks

I live in clinton. I am pretty computer savvy and have tried some hacks to no avail. I would love to have the recovery disc because I think there is a corrupted boot sector.

A lot of newer Laptops have an app that can be turned on by a former owner in the even they somehow loose possession. Not indicating to you that That is the issue with the one you posses, However if you bought it from an unknown, there may be a problem you can not fix. I think Best Buy offers the app when you purchase one from them. They are the ones who sends the Kill message to the Computer... Or so I have heard.

This laptop was brought to me by a friend to see if I could fix it. Don"t know the origin of it but was in pretty rough shape. After trying to get it to boot up from several disc and not being able to get into the bios I came to the conclusion that the hard drive was corrupted somewhere in the boot sector. Running a version of Vista would not even get a response from it. Gave it back and told them to invest in a new one.
