60° Cone Angle 20° Cone Angle
Take 1/2 cone angle times 3.14, divided by 180 gives the tangent. Tangent times depth, times 2, equals cone diameter.

mr. Nwright is the guy to teach the class on Sonar use/interpretation....I believe I remember he has been tutoring some of our Pros.

Was trying to avoid typing this in a post by copying and pasting from a file and the spacing is turned out different. Will repost with proper spaces.

Can't post file or type in post because spaces are deleted.

A 20 degree cone angle will cover as follows: 5 ft depth will cover a diameter of 1.7ft, 10 ft depth will cover a diameter of 3.4 ft, 15 ft depth will cover 5.1 ft, 20 ft depth will give a bottom diameter of 6.8 ft, etc. Just add 1.7 feet to the diameter for every 5 ft increase of depth.

A 60 degree will cover 5.2 feet at a depth of 5 feet, 10.4 feet at a 10 ft depth, etc. Just add 5.2 feet for every 5ft increase of depth.

That's excellent info! Thanks Mr. Wright! I look forward to hearing more from you!

What a great addition that would be for our screen overlay data. Seems like the calculation could be handled internally within the unit.

Lowrance, Humminbird, Bottom Line - got your ears on....

I'm going to make a cheat sheet for my rig, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
