My graphs cut off when I start the big motor . What should i be looking for to stop this

Check your power and ground connections, make sure they are clean and the main power lead needs to be wired directly to the battery and not through the main power switch on the dash. The newer units have low voltage protection and if there is a considerable drop in voltage/current, they will shut off. I had a similar issue when I upgraded to new units and my battery just wasn't strong enough to run both units and everything else so I upgraded my battery from a group 27 to a group 31 and haven't had any more issues.

Yup, sounds like you might have a marginal battery. Could be a bit too small, but more likely it is getting weak and the voltage drops too much when you crank the motor. Have the battery tested first.

I thought I had a battery problem recently. I finally replaced the cranking battery with a stouter one and eventually ran into the same thing. Tore the wiring apart and found the + and - connections on my fuse block had corroded badly. I guess I was losing connection on one of the wires and it was grounding out. Thats what was draining my cranking battery. Hope this helps out.

Are you powered direct to the battery? Also if you extended the power cable what gauge wire did you use. I recommend using 14-16 Gauge MultiStrand Wire and solder all connects and use a spade type fuse versus glass bulb type. This will help get the proper amount of current and voltage to the unit. A marginal power supply may not provide the right amount of current but proper voltage. And you unit will not perform properly or shut down if inadequate power supply.
