I'LL BE GOING ON VACATION THERE 4/16-4/21. I HAVE NOT BEEN THERE IN 10+YEARS. SO DOES ANY BODY KNOW OF A REAL GOOD FISHING CHARTER DOWN THERE? I'M OPEN TO ALL SUGGESTIONS emoSun emoSun emoSun

Dont know how much you want to spend, but the Sweet Jody is a good boat for the cheaper large party type boat. If you want to spend more on a charter style, the First Light boat is supoose to be good. Let us know how it goes.

Depends on what your looking for. I took one out for 6 hours last year (someone bought for me) and had a blast!! I'll try to find out what charter that was.

They are out of Panama City but they are about the only intercostal/beach charter around. I went out with them last September and caught tons of blue fish in 3-5 feet of water on topwater. Unreal. As close to bass fishing as you can get with light tackle. Not sure what is in season right now but I am sure something will be shallow.

oh i have the best trip you will ever take. Check out DEADFISHCHARTERS.COM.

The capt picks you up off the beach and your ride will be less than 10 minutes! he has all bait already caught and you are fishing in 10 minutes. He is the absolute best charter around destin. the only negative is he can only take 4 people, 5 if one is a child.

you will catch more snapper with him in 4 hours than you will on any charter out of destin in 8 hours. I have been going to destin 3 or 4 times a year for over 15 years so i have been on many of the charters and party boats there.

I went in October had a 4 man limit of snapper, grouper, 2 AJ and several kings and spanish and ton of blue fish in a 4 hour trip!

The price is great and he works his butt off to keep you in fish!

Bluefish are great to catch!! A 5lb bluefish will give you all you can handle fight wise!! I like the kings and spanish mackeral too!

Try Olin Marler Charters. I have used him several times. He has four boats of various sizes as well as the Dolphin cruises and Sea Blaster (speed boat for multiple passengers). He is a long time Destin fisherman. About four years ago, while fishing for snapper, grouper and amberjack, I was lucky enough to hook up with a shark. We weren't shark-ready and didn't boat the thing. Two mates on board estimated it to 8' plus and 350-400 lbs. Things look bigger in the water, I know, but I did get him to the surface with some assistance. We were bottom fishing about 200' deep and I had no chance of cranking him by myself. I didn't hand over the rod, but they did put on gloves and help feed me some line. It also was the last fish of the day on a 10 hour trip.

We did limit on snapper and amberjack by the way and had a few nice grouper.

not to dismiss Catchman recommendation, while there are some good stories about Olin Marler, they are known to be somewhat bad sports and somewhat shady. I have heard many bad things about them. I have been on 3 of the "winds" of Olin Marlers and 2 of 3 were not great trips.

The times i have been all we targeted were small B liners and only by accident did we catch snapper or grouper. If you want fish for the freezer that can be OK but if i am paying 1200 bucks i want something to pull back and fish for the freezer.

Do not go with the Destin fishing Fleet either. they used to be the best charter service in town but have fallen under new ownership and many of the good captains have moved on.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR ALL THE TIPS AND REFERALS. THIS WILL BE A GREAT HELP ON WHERE TO SPEND MY $$$$ WISELY!!emoSun emoSun
