Well, I wasn't able to make it up to SMTC on Friday evening, so the chance to meet Dewayne was put on hold for a while. However, I was able to go up there this afternoon and see what the rage is all about. I have to say that the posts on here do not do justice for the welcome feeling I got, and the hospitality that was shown while I was there. I got to meet Dewayne's wife and son, and ended up buying a couple of filler spools of P-Line and a SMTC fitted hat!
The thing that sets this place apart is that it's a place that you want to be at. It's not just a place to get tackle and leave, but it's a place where conversation and coffee are served!
This is what a tackle store should be! In my opinion, as I told my father, it's a mini-BPS. It has the gift side of the store, which I loved and cracked up over! (Especially the "Row Faster - I hear banjo music" shirt and hat!) It also has the tackle side of the store and I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of trout gear they have.
While I don't fish that much for trout, you can't beat panfishing with a fly rod!
All I can say is that they will be getting a lot of my business in the near future. I whole-heartedly recommend stopping in and seeing what they have. Remember, they are continually growing and are getting new things in all the time.
I called Dewayne and told him how much I enjoyed the visit and that he's got a new customer. I also heard of some good news coming from Watts Bar!
I will leave it to him to detail all the information on that!
