It's been a pretty windy Spring with few days to fish, but I took a day off work Friday and fished the Gulf on DLancas boat with another friend. It was pretty rough that morning and barely made it out from the cape 6 miles with a stiff East wind, but things finally calmed down a bit later in the afternoon long enough for us to get out around 18 miles in 90ft.
The fish were there but not touching our jigs until we got them excited with the pilchards we netted that morning. We kept a few AJs and had a big fish throw-down at the Indian Pass raw bar cooking on the big grill feeding all our friends and neighbors - it was awesome day catching one of the strongest fish in the ocean!
Saturday the wind was back and we barely caught anything, but did see one Cobia in the rough water after scouting most of the day - I hope to fish Chickamauga again next weekend.
