Hmm I wonder if it is the same curve that got the chicken truck, the sulfuric acid truck, and little debbie truck.

Hmm I wonder if it is the same curve that got the chicken truck, the sulfuric acid truck, and little debbie truck.

I think this one was a little closer to the lake itself, R14. At least this spill might add a little color to the water ...

I'm KIDDING guys! emoBigsmile

It would take alot more than what got into the lake to ruin any fishing, birds, beaver, muskrats be the most affected by it, small amounts are easily controlled, looks like most of it was off loaded to another truck, prob get more than that in the lake every year from parking lots around the lake.

Well, that sounds good with me, ill be out on the lake in the morning, I spent some of yesterday and all of today getting the boat ready, cause i havent been on it since last year. i had to change the oil and put a cleaner in the gas and test it, the boat seems ready to go. I'll have a report tomaroow probably. I'm glad that they can control the spill in the lake!emoThumbsup

They said that it wouldn't really affect the wild life too bad b/c diesel fuel floats. I didn't know that and thought it was pretty neat, so hopefully it wont be too bad. I heard that they are considering a 4 lane hwy, due to all the wrecks and stuff right there.

4 lane thru there would be horribly expensive.. and you think traffic thru there now is bad add 5 yrs or more of construction to what is already jammed .. and it would take 7 hrs to get thru there ( I've spent 3hrs on the weekend getting thru there now ) ! they would have to blast away miles of mountain side, sure couldn't go towards the river in most places, the only thing could do is blast the mountain or a by pass of the gorge.

NRG Bigfish, the hwy 64 is in great shape to what it used to be. I drove it for several years before I moved down here and let me tell you. It was no picnic.

The rafters used to just stop their bus and off load in the middle of the road and you had to wait for them. The busses had to drive to the top of the mtn to turn around and it was a mess if there was a wreck there. The flood in the early 90's brought about some changes and the road being wiped out. When they closed the other lanes down to do the work, it was never re-opened. Just like the work that was done for the olympics that was supposed to be put back to original.... It just never got done.

There has been talk for several years and petitions signed and all manner of different ideas kicked around. It is still a scenic by-way and can't be touched because of that. The other road was supposed to cross the mtn. and come back in at Ducktown. It hasn't happened and probably never will.

I personally have seen more wrecked and crashed cars and trucks up there than I ever wanted to see. I have had two people die with their head laying in my lap and not a darn thing I could do but wait. The ambulance could not get thru cause of the jammed up traffic. There used to be only three pull outs all the way up the river. Now there is more and I wish the look see-ers would use them. Theres nothing like sitting behind traffic waiting for someone to see a raft come down the river and hear the all too familiar sqeal of tires and see a log truck bowing up to stop.

Ok that my rant for the day..

... the only thing could do is blast the mountain or a by pass of the gorge.

bypass with seven bridges crossing the gorge and river is the current plan. Current road would remain for local/raft traffic. My understand is the plan is currently going environmental review.
