Not your ordinary fishing report..........
I finally got to make my first journey of the year to the lake to bass fish. Put in at Chickamauga Dam, went to check a few places for fish. An hour later it started to rain so I went toward the wall where I knew I could get out of the rain and there may be something on the wall. discovered there was a good hatch of minnows running the wall so I decided to fish while waiting on the rain to stop but I discovered I had left all my spinning reels at the house. Pulling water through a few generators so should be a good time to catch a few bream anyway. Now me trying to throw a small jig on a casting rod would be like trying to tie my shoe one handed standing on one foot. I did happen to have one crappie rod with me rigged with 4lb test line on an Ultralite Shimano rod and reel and matched color of the minnows with a ****y Garland on a 1/16 oz jig head.
What the heck, rig it up and see what happens............man o man.......10 large mouth later, one 2 lber, the rest being 12 -14"; 4 smallmouth with the biggest being 12" I was having a blast on this 4lb test line; drag was smokin! At least I got practice wearing them down and then leaning over the boat to lip them in the boat.
Last fish of the day was a 3lb 12 oz largemouth that took me 10 minutes to get in for fear of breaking it off, drag got a major workout on this one. Thanks to the guys in the boat that loaned me their scales. Personal best on 4 lb test line !
